Translator at US Consulate in Adana arrested on terror charges

Hamza Uluçay, a translator who has served for long years at the US Consulate in the southern province of Adana, has been arrested on charges of membership in a terror organization.

Uluçay was briefly detained on Feb. 23 as part of an investigation into the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) conducted by the Mardin Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. He was detained again on Tuesday due to an objection to his release from the prosecutor’s office and was subsequently arrested.

Uluçay was incarcerated in Mardin Prison. (turkishminute.com) March 7, 2017
