Turkish police raided the distribution office of the Özgürlükçü Demokrasi and Rojeva Medya dailies and detained 5 office staff in the eastern province of Van on Saturday. According to pro-Kurdish news sources, office workers Ferit Aktepe, Osman İnal, Hamdullah Kumli and Delil Babat were detained in a police raid while technical equipment and files were confiscated.
The distribution staff of Rojeva Medya and Özgürlükçü Demokrasi dailies Engin Diker, Emrullah Kapar and Azad Kılıç were also been detained in Van on Friday.
Hasan Duman, another distributor for the same papers, was also held in custody for 11 days and was formally arrested on January 1 on charges of “Disobeying stop warning”, “Possession of newspapers and subscriber lists considered to be terrorist organization-related”, “Possession of illegal materials on phone.”
