Former TRT announcer detained as tries to flee from Turkey

Former TRT announcer Hamza Günerigök has been detained as he was trying to flee from Turkey to Greece in illegal ways. The government has issued an arrest warrant for Günerigök over his alleged link with Gülen movement.

CNN Turk reported that Günerigök was detained by border security in military zone as he tries to pass to Greek side. Günerigök was sent to Uzunköprü Court in Edirne after he was interrogated by gendarmerie.

AKP government has accused of the Gülen movement for orchestrating the failed coup attempt of July 15, 2016. Both Fethullah Gülen and his sympathizers have categorically denied these claims numerous times.

However, the government has started a campaign of massive purge and arrests against those allegedly linked to Gülen movement. In wake of military coup attempt, AKP government has sacked 123.934 public officials from their posts; 89.775 people have been detained, 43.885 people have been arrested over alleged links with Gülen movement.
