Work-related accidents in construction result in 1,754 fatalities over 5 years

The Confederation of Revolutionary Workers’ Unions (DİSK) said 1,754 workers have died in the last five years in construction sector work accidents in Turkey, the t24 news website said on Monday.

According to a report presented to the Turkish Parliament, 1,940 workers became permanently disabled in 35,000 work accidents over the last five years.

The report also underlined that the construction industry has been the leader in illegal employment among all sectors other than agriculture with a 40 percent rate. (turkishminute.com) March 20, 2017
