Çiçek Otlu, the Chairperson of Socialist Party of Oppressed (ESP) in Turkey was arrested by a Tunceli (Dersim) court on Tuesday. Otlu, who has been wanted with an outsanding detention warrant, was detained Monday evening by Turkish police in Ankara.

Otlu has objected her detention by saying “I refuses this decision which aims at preventing my political activities”, however the court has decided to arrest her and sent to prison.

Otlu has reacted to the court’s arrest decision and said “nobody could seize us,” according to a report by ETHA news agency. Otlu has also said to his friends that “we will see on November” by referring to date of trial on November 8, 2017.

Turkey’s autocratic President and ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had targeted leftists and communists and said they are not patriots and nationalists, NTV reported on Tuesday.

Erdoğan’s remarks came during a meeting with muhtars, neighbor heads in Turkish capital of Ankara.

“We are constructing an airport on the sea, they are saying ’we don’t want it.’ Who are they? Communists, communists. This airport will bring together two cities, Artvin and Rize, they say ‘we don’t want it.’ This leftist mentality, these communists, they are never patriots and nationalists,” he said.
