Pro-Kurdish HDP deputy Becerikli detained at Turkish airport

A deputy from the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Saadet Becerikli, was detained on Saturday in Turkey’s southeastern town of Batman.

Becerikli was taken into custody after she failed to appear at a trial in which she is accused of disseminating terrorist propaganda.

The Kurdish deputy was detained after she flew from Ankara to Batman.

HDP deputies and local Kurdish politicians have been subjected to detentions and arrests as part of an ongoing crackdown against Turkey’s Kurdish political movement. (turkishminute.com)
