At least forty-seven women were victims of violence across Turkey in February, according to a report released by the “Stop Femicide!” platform.
The platform in its report for the month of February stated that at least 47 women were killed in Turkey last month. According to the report, 31 more women were exposed to sexual violence. Over 50 percent of the women who were killed were between 36 and 65 years old. Another 19 percent was between 25 and 35 years of age, and 7 percent was between 19 and 24.
The fact that the rate of female killings has risen sharply over the previous month is due to “the rising trend of violence.” According to the platform, 30 cases of sexual violence against children were also registered in February.
Of the women killed, 26 were murdered by their spouses, while 13 were the victims of personal acquaintances or family members.
